CAMEROON: NO MORE WORK OR SCHOOL AFTER 2 PM TO FILL THE STADIUMS

Will the CAN stadiums come alive? Aware that the absence of spectators in the stadiums tarnishes the beauty of the African Cup of Nations, the Cameroonian government has just published a press release suspending school and professional activities from 2 p.m. to allow Cameroonians to go in the speakers. "On very high instructions from the President of the Republic, the Prime Minister, Head of Government, informs the national community that, during the days of the CAN meetings, school and academic activities will be held from 7:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. , professional activities will take place from 7:30 a.m. to 2 p.m. This measure will apply in the public sector from Monday, January 17 until February 4,” the statement said.

TUNISIA - MALI DISTURBED BY ARBITRATION

The match between Tunisia and Mali was spoiled on Wednesday by incomprehensible decisions by the referee. The match between Tunisia and Mali, this Wednesday at the CAN, could not be completed. And for good reason: 20 seconds before the end of regulation time and without playing stoppage time, the Zambian referee decided to send the two teams back to the locker room.  Mr. Sikazwe had obviously not adjusted his watch correctly. And the protests on the spot from the Carthage Eagles camp, which was losing 0-1 at that time, did nothing. At this point, in order to proceed with the test, you need to know which animal you spotted first to know which result to refer to. Once you have in mind the...

Nearly a billion euros of investments, Cameroon did not skimp on the means for the organization of the competition. It runs from January 9 to February 6. The matches will be played in five cities (Yaoundé, Douala, Limbe, Bafoussam and Garoua) and in six stadiums in total, including two in the capital Yaoundé. The State has invested at least 500 billion CFA francs in the country's sports infrastructure and in land development, with a view to hosting this event. It was necessary to build many stadiums in the country, including the magnificent stadium of Douala-Japoma, and Olembé in Yaoundé. The opening match will oppose the indomitable lions of Cameroon...

WHY DO WE EAT THE GALETTE DES ROI?

This Thursday, January 6, is Epiphany! As every year, it's an opportunity to celebrate the first gourmet event of the year with the tasting of the galette des rois. Originally, Epiphany was celebrated on January 6, but Vatican II (1962-1965) decided that it would be celebrated on the first Sunday following January 1, so that the faithful living in countries where January 6 is not a day off can go to mass. The word "epiphany" comes from the Greek and means "appearance" or "advent". Epiphany corresponds to the day when the Magi from the East, guided by the light of a star, arrived in front of the cradle of Jesus, in the stable where he was born, and offered him...
